Stitched Titles and Sentiments Tutorial

Hi there!

Happy Wednesday!  I have a new tutorial for you.  A long, long while ago I shared a tutorial on hand stitched titles, suggesting that you stitch over your hand writing to create a title on your layout.  Now, I know that many of us do not like our handwriting, so I have revisited this technique to come up with something that we might like a little more.

I printed out my title/sentiment the size I need for my project.  You can simply use the Word Document program on your computer.  If you are like me, you may need to print out a couple of sizes to ensure you get one that suits your project. Or if you have a Silhouette, you can print from your project design screen... this is really nice as you can get it the exact size you need the first time!

Now, gather up your printed title, the element you are going to be stitching on, a needle and embroidery floss, a piercing tool and mat, and a couple of paper clips.
I know it is a little hard to tell in this photo, but I like to hold my printed text and the paper I am stitching on up to the light so that I can check to make sure I have good alignment.  Clip it into place, so it holds titght while piercing.
I decided to only pierce / stitch along one side of my letters, but you could pierce along both sides for a different look.
Now remove your printed template to reveal your pierced guide.
 And start stitching.
Doesn't it  look great when it is all done?  And it really only took a couple of minutes!
I added my stitched piece to this card as a sentiment.  I think it turned out great!  Stay tuned in a couple of weeks I will be sharing another tip based on this card.

Adding Dimension to Stickers - Tutorial

Hi there,
I have a little tip to share today, it's is not quite a tutorial, but I am sharing just the same!
Have you ever wanted to pop dot a sticker, but were a little concerned that once you inserted your page into an album the adhesive on the sticker would stick to your page and you would lose your dimensional look?  Well grab your baby powder for a quick fix.
Sprinkle the powder onto the back of your sticker, make sure you get good coverage.
 Tap off the excess.
And start adding those pop dots, we all love so much!
See, told yah it was more of a quick and easy tip!

Sketch-y Friday and a Guest Designer

Hello and happy Friday!

Now, you know what Friday means, right?  Yup, we have a new sketch for you to play with!  This week we have  a special treat, it is Guest Designer week here on the ScrapMuch? blog!

Here is our sketch.....

This month Tiiu is joining us as our Guest Designer....

I will let Tiiu tell you a little bit about herself......

"Hi everyone - I'm Tiiu and I'm so flattered to be selected for this month's guest designer spot. I love to play along with the sketches when I have the time, but my busy schedule doesn't let me hop in as often as I'd like. I've been scrapbooking for 7 years. One of the things I love the most about the hobby, aside from the creative outlet, is that I've been fortunate to meet so many amazing men and women who share the same passion for telling the stories of themselves and their families from all over the world. I'm an avid traveler, wife, and fur momma to 2 amazing cats. Those 3 seem to be the things I scrapbook the most.  As for scrapbooking - I'm paper obsessed with a very simple style, I don't journal nearly enough, and I LOVE mini albums!

For this week's layout I used papers and embellishments from the Fancy Pants Trendsetter line, with the mini clip from Tim Holtz and the title with American Crafts thickers, and a few added ribbons from my stash. One of the photo mats was actually from the packaging for the embellishments because it just worked with everything so perfectly. Never discount how awesome and "scrapable" your packaging can be! Thanks so much to the awesome ladies at ScrapMuch? for selecting me!"

You can find Tiiu's blog here.  Now let's have a look at her gorgeous creation!

Thank you Tiiu, we truly appreciate you joining us this month and sharing your creativity with us!  Now it's your turn!  Play along and share it with us!

Here is a run down of the rules.  We are offering a little prize to one lucky scrapper that participates in at least 2 of this month's 4 sketches.  Just link up your creations at the bottom of each Sketch-y Friday post, all qualifying scrappers will be entered into a random draw for a prize.  Only one entry per sketch please.  You have until Wednesday August 1st at midnight to participate in any of July's sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win!  (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. )

Stylus Rolled Flowers Tutorial

Hi there!

Happy hump day, hear is your tip for the week....

This week I have a quick tip on adding a bit of dimension to your die cut or punched flowers.

Using a stylus / dry embossing tool....
..... simply rub in a circular motion, the ends of each petal.  The petals will curl up giving you a little dimension.
When you layer a few together you get lots of dimension!

Wood Dipping Tutorial

Hi there,

Happy Wednesday!  I have a fun little tutorial for you today.  Have you seen the trend on wood dipped home decor items?  Like these.......

... it is a really cool look.  And I thought, hey why not incorporate that into scrapping.

Now of course you can pull out your craft paints for a more opaque finish, though today I decided to give my elements a stained look, so I grabbed some Mr. Huey's a few embellies, tweezers and a disposable shot glass.
Add the Mr' Huey's to the shot glass, about a half inch should do for most embellies.  You can pour the leftovers right back into the bottle so there is no waste.
Using the tweezers dip each element into the stain.  You can dip as much or as little as you like.

I dipped the flower yo about the half way mark and the car to about two-thirds. The button got the full on treatment!

I can't wait to use these on a project!  Isn't this a fun way to customize your little wooden elements!
